Dan McCarthy was selected by the New York Rangers in the 1978 NHL Amateur Draft and made his NHL debut for the blushirts during the 1980-81 season, scoring 4 goals in just five games.
In total, McCarthy played 8 seasons of professional hockey with the Toledo Goaldiggers, Richmond Rifles, Birmingham South Stars, Flint Generals, Baltimore Skipjacks, New Haven Nighthawks, Springfield Indians, and New York Rangers.
McCarthy is the founder and president of the Do It Right Foundation and is the founder of the Connecticut Wolves Junior hockey team.
